Dracaena (Dragon Tree)
Dracaena is a genus of about 40 species of trees and succulent shrubs. The majority of the species are native to Africa, with a few in southern Asia and one in tropical Central America. The segregate genus Pleomele is now generally included in Dracaena. For those interested in the Percy Jackson series, the word Dracaena is derived from the Romanized form of the Greek word δράκαινα- Meaning Drakaina, which is a mythical Greek female monster. It is described as having green scaly skin, yellow eyes, forked tongues and double snake trunks instead of legs.
